Regional group recommends Sally Find for MRPC regional commissioner

The committee conducted a voice vote with no recorded opposition and the chair announced the motion prevailed. The regional group’s recommendation will be presented to the state MRPC at its November meeting for formal appointment.
Find told attendees she has worked on broadband projects for the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe and has been involved in constitution‑writing for the tribe. She said the work of the commission connects people “culturally up and down the Mississippi River” and that she is ‘‘very happy to serve another term on this board.’’
Andrew George, who provides administrative and fiscal support for MRPC through the Legislative Coordinating Commission, reminded the group that regional commissioners are recommended locally by citizen committees and that the MRPC includes legislative members, regional commissioners and technical agency members; he said the commission receives administrative support and some operating funds through the LCC and occasional grants.
The regional committee’s action was exclusively a recommendation; formal appointment is made by the statewide MRPC. The meeting record shows a voice vote with no opposition and the recommendation will be taken up by the MRPC in November.
What happens next: the state MRPC will consider the regional recommendation at its November meeting; the regional committee asked staff to forward the nomination packet and supporting materials.
