Dallas County health official: COVID, influenza and RSV activity remain low; wastewater surveillance continues

Dallas County’s public-health official reported generally low respiratory virus activity and ongoing surveillance efforts, including wastewater monitoring and community vaccination clinics.
Dr. Wong told the commissioners that SARS‑CoV‑2 levels and hospitalizations remain low in the county, influenza activity is down locally even as influenza B rises in some other regions, and the county has recorded no pediatric influenza deaths this season. Wastewater surveillance from Dallas and partnering municipalities continues to show low SARS‑CoV‑2 signal levels, which county staff said aligns with clinical testing and hospitalization data.
The health official also noted RSV activity at some sites and reiterated that vaccination clinics are being offered in the community. On measles, Dr. Wong said a recent West Texas outbreak had been controlled but that national monitoring continues and that federal authorities are evaluating the U.S. status of measles elimination with final determinations expected later in the year.
Action and next steps: The health department will continue dashboard updates, maintain community vaccination schedules and expand wastewater sampling in coordination with municipal partners during large events.
