The Cape Canaveral City Council approved a construction agreement for tennis court rehabilitation after staff presented a post-bid negotiated price of $114,500 for the project.
Agenda materials listed a bidder proposal of $151,364 for the work; staff said they negotiated the price down and that the construction agreement to be signed will reflect the $114,500 contract amount. The city attorney and staff confirmed that the contractor must provide a performance bond equal to the contract price and that the bond and signed contract will make the $114,500 binding.
Council members praised staff negotiation efforts and discussed standard contract mechanics, including the bond amount and the requirement that contract language reflect the negotiated figure before the contractor performs work. The matter passed unanimously, recorded as a 5–0 vote.
City staff indicated the award authorizes the interim city manager to execute the agreement and carry the rehabilitation project forward under the stated contract terms.
