City approves K's lease termination but commissioners press for inspections

The Mount Clemens City Commission voted Aug. 2 to approve a revised lease termination agreement for the K's property and authorized the mayor and city clerk to sign the document.
City manager Johnson said the schools submitted revised language primarily related to payment for parking-lot replacement and an annual payment date change from Sept. 1 to Nov. 1 to align with state aid disbursements; staff had no objection to the changes. Commissioner Mener said he has repeatedly requested that the city require a full suite of inspections — building, electrical, plumbing and fire — before finalizing agreements that affect children using the facility. Johnson responded that a fire inspection had been completed and the results provided to the commission the prior week.
The motion to approve the revised lease termination passed by roll call vote.
