The Miami Lakes Veterans Committee approved the installation of double-sided military tribute banners and discussed application, imagery and placement rules.
Members reviewed the application process and agreed that portraits in uniform look best; they asked staff to prefer photos in uniform and, when applicants do not have a uniform photo, to consider tasteful photo editing of younger images. The committee approved double banners (two banners per pole, visible from both directions) and asked staff to confirm vendor quotes, banner orientation, pole heights and installation logistics.
The committee also asked staff to ensure the banner design keeps faces oriented toward the direction of traffic and to provide guidance on acceptable photo submissions. The motion to approve the double-hanging banner design and installation was moved and seconded during the meeting and recorded as passed.
What’s next: public works/staff will finalize vendor arrangements, confirm installation timing, and return with a schedule for placement and a cost summary to the committee at the subcommittee meeting scheduled for March 12.
