Hinsdale board advances Mather-funded Robin’s Park playground to second reading

Total project expenses were listed in the packet at $329,967.07, below an original estimate of about $380,000.
Design highlights include wood panels, rope bridges, two slides, a roughly 50-foot zip line, new swings, and landscaping with roughly 585 perennials, ornamental grasses, vines and 11 deciduous shrubs. Primary materials listed include Wisconsin black locust logs and a vine tunnel entrance about 8 feet high and 5 feet wide.
The village published the bid package Jan. 6, 2026, received nine bids (the lowest was withdrawn as noncompliant), and staff noted positive references for D&J Landscape from Upland Design and the Downers Grove Park District. Staff anticipates construction starting in April 2026 and completing in June 2026; the board moved the contract to a second reading for final approval on a future agenda.
