Grant County court confirms multiple board reappointments, names electrical inspector and approves routine fiscal and procurement items

The Grant County Fiscal Court on March 3 approved a slate of reappointments to county boards, confirmed a contract to hire an electrical inspector and handled routine fiscal and procurement matters.
Reappointments approved (each by motion and unanimous voice vote) included Teddy Beckham, Billy Points and Lester Lynn Edwards to the E911 Service Fee Appeals Board (terms retroactive to Feb. 1, 2026, through Dec. 31, 2032); Candace Hammonds‑Faulkner to the Tax Appeals Board (retroactive Feb. 1, 2026, through Dec. 31, 2028); and Fred Scheffler to the 109 Board (retroactive Feb. 1, 2026, through Dec. 31, 2028).
The court approved a contract to appoint Matthew Dunaway as an electrical inspector for Grant County, effective March 3, 2026, and authorized Judge Executive Chuck Dills to sign the agreement. Dills said the county maintains at least three electrical inspectors for coverage and that long‑time inspector Larry Rice will be semi‑retired but available as backup. "He comes highly recommended," Dills said of Dunaway.
On fiscal matters the court approved claims for the general, road and jail funds dated March 3, 2026 (noting a planned transfer to the jail would not be completed because Peggy received funds). The court also authorized advertising bids for Grant County Road Department materials and supplies for fiscal year 2026‑27 as the county prepares its budget.
Sheriff Dennis Whitson provided routine monthly statistics, reporting: "For the month of February, the sheriff's office responded to 963 calls for service," made 43 arrests, opened 26 investigations, handled 23 collisions, issued 96 citations, served 222 summonses, completed 233 auto inspections, traveled 5,187 miles on fugitive transports and logged 62.5 hours of court security; he also noted two candidates are in phase two of hiring.
The court had no public comments and adjourned; the next meeting is scheduled for March 17, 2026 at 6:00 p.m. at the Grant County Courthouse.
