The Grant County Fiscal Court voted March 3 to adopt two ordinances intended to expand and regulate solar energy system development in the county’s industrial zoning.
Ordinance 0001-2026-0293 adds solar energy systems to the I2 (industrial two) zoning classification. Magistrate Coldiron moved for approval and Magistrate Humphrey seconded the motion; the court approved the ordinance by voice vote.
Ordinance 0002-2026-0294 adds Article 15 to the county’s zoning regulations to set rules for solar energy systems. Magistrate Humphrey moved to approve the regulation amendment, Magistrate Riley seconded, and the court approved it by voice vote. Judge Executive Chuck Dills noted full copies of both ordinances are on file in the Judge Executive's office for public review.
Both ordinances were advanced as second readings at the meeting and are now adopted; the court did not discuss specific technical provisions during the session and referred interested parties to the office copy for detailed language.
