The Dearborn City Council adopted a walk-on resolution Feb. 24 designating Feb. 22 in perpetuity as 'USA Miracle Hockey Day,' a civic recognition to celebrate U.S. Olympic hockey achievements.
Councilman Robert Abraham introduced the resolution and framed it as a celebratory, non-political recognition of national and local contributions to hockey. In remarks on the council floor, Abraham said the sport 'is more than a game, it is a symbol of national unity and perseverance' and noted that several players on the recent U.S. men’s and women’s Olympic teams are from Michigan communities.
Abraham cited players from Waterford, Shelby Township, Commerce, Canton, Farmington Hills and Plymouth as examples of Michigan representation on the teams and said the resolution honors both the current Olympic champions and earlier historic wins. The resolution passed with unanimous support from council members on the floor.
