Judge Executive Chuck Dills told the court the work includes preparing the checklists and technical studies required by the state and said, “Also, to clarify, this is new money that we have received full funding.” Magistrate Riley moved the motion, Magistrate Codell seconded it, and the court approved it by voice vote with all members saying “Aye.”
The contract was added as Item N to the agenda after Dills asked the court to consider the consulting agreement. According to the discussion, Civil Con will assist the county with design specifications, requests for proposals and the state approval process; the county emphasized the work is for replacement rather than repair. The court noted Larry Rice will remain available as a semi‑retired backup inspector while the county adds contractual engineering support.
Next steps: the judge was authorized to sign the agreement so the county can begin the engineering and state‑funding process and then put the construction work out for bid. The court took no other action on the project at the meeting.
