Residents from Miner Street and the Hill neighborhood urged the committee to approve a residential parking zone to address spillover parking from a nearby wellness center, the Boys & Girls Club and multi‑family housing.
Hannah Spark, who said she lives on Miner Street, told the panel the street is increasingly used by non‑residents and that a petition and signatures support a residential zone. "The main reason is the challenges of non‑residents parking," she said, describing how parking demand spills onto adjacent blocks.
Alders pressed for clarity about notification and outreach. Several members said one or more ward offices had not received notice and asked staff to coordinate letters of support from affected alders before a formal ordinance reading. Ward representatives who attended said they opposed moving the item forward without more coordination.
Members decided not to take action and to keep the item in committee while staff and supporters provide additional documentation, maps and alder outreach. Public commenters emphasized both support for neighborhood parking controls and concerns about access to shared parking at service providers.
