Lacey panel elects Brandon Stevens chair, re-elects Angelina Goldwell as vice chair and recommends 2026 work plan to council

LACEY, Wash. — The Lacey Human Services Commission elected Commissioner Brandon Stevens as chair and re-elected Angelina Goldwell as vice chair at its meeting on March 5. Both officer selections were approved by voice vote after nominations and seconding motions.

The commission also moved to approve the March 5 agenda, the Feb. 5 meeting minutes and consent items. A commissioner publicly thanked a recent United Way presentation as "powerful" and "transformational." No members of the public had signed up for comment, though the chair left the record open for in-meeting comments.

Later in the meeting, the commission voted by voice to recommend the 2026 human services work plan to the Lacey City Council. The work plan sets the commission's priorities and timeline for the year: finalize the strategic plan and rubric in spring, receive and score grant applications with applicant presentations in June (proposed June 4 and June 11), and aim to submit award recommendations to council in July so awards can begin in August.

Commissioners welcomed new commissioner John Grousen, who said he has been a Lacey resident since 1973 and described a 40-year background in the nonprofit sector. Chair Stevens adjourned the meeting at 6:16 p.m.
