County emergency management says state grant will fund two positions with a $125,000 county match

Dan Duchan, speaking for Cochise County emergency management, told the board the county expects to adopt an annual agreement with the Arizona Department of Emergency and Military Affairs for the current fiscal year that provides a 50% match for emergency-management operations.
Duchan said the county's share will be $125,000 matched by $125,000 from state grant funds for a total program value the board discussed as $250,000. "The grant amount we are receiving is 125 and that's the 50%," Duchan said, adding the funds support two full-time employees, vehicles, cell phones, MiFi equipment, subscriptions and general office equipment.
Supervisors asked about preseason wildfire coordination; Duchan said local Forest Service and county preseason meetings are scheduled and that emergency-management staff will share meeting dates with the board. The discussion focused on funding uses and coordination with local fire districts and partner agencies.
No formal vote to adopt the agreement was recorded during the work session; staff indicated the agreement will be brought forward for adoption consistent with the grant's timing.
