The City Council unanimously approved a rezoning request on June 26 to change approximately 19.33 acres at 2855 Graham Road North from Rural to Commercial-Industrial zoning.
Staff planner Becca Blazing Games told the council the applicant intends to develop a commercial-amusement use with a golf driving range and outdoor entertainment areas. The site’s future land-use designation is Business Center; staff said Commercial-Industrial zoning is consistent with the Comprehensive Plan’s guidance for business-center scale and access.
A resident immediately south of the site contacted staff in opposition, citing concerns about lighting and drainage; staff noted this action was the rezoning only and that subsequent preliminary and final plat and site-plan reviews would be required to address drainage and lighting standards. The planning commission recommended approval unanimously on June 5.
Council closed the public hearing and adopted the zoning change without recorded opposition at the dais.
Next steps: applicant must submit preliminary and final plats and a site plan for staff and commission review; those submittals will trigger technical reviews for drainage, lighting and traffic access.
