The city attorney told the council the prior agreement approved last year set a 30‑mile service radius rather than a 20‑mile radius and noted a contractual provision that charges an additional fee for round‑trip service outside city limits. The attorney also said the earlier agreement included a mutual indemnification and hold‑harmless clause and recommended the mayor be authorized to sign a corrected agreement so staff could finalize language before execution.
Councilman Lucas moved to authorize the mayor to negotiate and sign the updated contract; the motion was seconded and the council voted to approve the authorization. No changes to passenger charges were proposed during the discussion, and staff said the updated agreement reflects terms the council previously approved.
The action means staff can finalize the version sent for signature and return it to the mayor. The council did not schedule further public hearings on the item during the meeting.
