The Granite School District board approved several administrative appointments March 3 and used the meeting to recognize student and teacher achievements across the district.
After approving the consent agenda, the board voted to accept administrative appointments. Board members introduced and welcomed a newly hired purchasing director (identified in the meeting as David) and other administrative appointees. Dr. Mandy Chapel announced Scott Chomers as the next principal of the Granite Technical Institute; Chomers introduced family members in the audience. Emily Ripco announced Katie Gardner as the new assistant director of the district preschool program.
Earlier in the meeting, the board recognized a slate of student scholars and athletes who earned academic all‑state honors and identified schools with high median growth percentiles (MGP) — Rose Elementary (72.5), Cottonwood Elementary (67.5), Robert Frost (66), Truman (64), Eastwood (61.5), James E. Moss (60.5), and Skyline High School (MGP 54) among others. Ann Ree and colleagues recognized four newly National Board Certified teachers and one re‑certified teacher.
Board members and staff used the recognition segment to highlight the district’s extracurricular and academic successes and to thank community partners.
