Council approves lease amendment for cellular communications site near Evanston Roundhouse

Mr Harris, who read the resolution title for the council, said Union Telephone "has a 100 by 100 square up there by the substation... they're looking to expand that to 120 by 120 in an effort to put up a new tower." He and other staff described the proposed tower site as located on a hill behind the golf course adjacent to a substation.
Council discussion noted the tower would be about 80 feet tall and that the parcel's agricultural/cultural zoning permits an 80-foot tower. There were no substantive questions or objections recorded during the council discussion, and a council member moved to introduce the resolution and another seconded; the motion passed on a voice vote.
The action authorizes execution of the lease amendment so the company may expand its leased footprint at the Roundhouse site. Council did not record a roll-call tally in the transcript; the vote was taken by voice and recorded as approved.
