Broomfield council approves resolution forming comprehensive-plan advisory committee and confirms dozens of board appointments

The City and County of Broomfield council adopted Resolution 2026-24 on March 3, 2026, to establish a Comprehensive Plan Community Advisory Committee (CPCAC) that will advise staff on the city’s comprehensive-plan update.
Miss Burtonetti said the CPCAC will include 10 nominees from boards and commissions, five at-large members, two high-school-aged youth members and is expected to meet quarterly during the plan update. The council approved the resolution by recorded vote and then moved through a sequence of electronic ballots to appoint members to the CPCAC and to fill vacancies across numerous boards and commissions.
Across multiple ballots the council appointed members to advisory bodies that included (not an exhaustive list): the Advisory Committee on Environmental Sustainability (ACES), Arts, History and Cultural Council, Broomfield Housing Alliance, Board of Health, Historic Landmark Board, Land Use Review Commission, Library Board, Neighborhood Board of Adjustment, Open Space & Trails Advisory Committee (OSAC), Parks, Recreation & Senior Services Advisory Committee, Personnel Merit Commission, and the Scientific and Cultural Facilities District. Where a candidate already served on another board, council took separate votes to authorize dual service; those authorizations and the appointments passed with affirmative majorities as required by council rules.
Several appointments were unanimous. For example, the motion to appoint the six selected members to ACES for four-year terms passed 9–0; many subsequent appointment motions also recorded 9–0 tallies on the council’s electronic portal. The clerk’s office will notify appointees and liaisons and schedule follow-up orientation and meeting information.
Mayor Pro Tem Gene Lim and council members thanked applicants for volunteering and acknowledged that the high number of qualified applicants meant not everyone could be appointed. Staff said additional vacancies will be filled as they open and that the clerk’s office will contact all applicants with next steps.
The new CPCAC will convene according to comprehensive-plan timelines; the council’s appointments to it and to standing boards implement the council’s stated priorities for community engagement and advisory oversight.
