Rec & Parks launches new registration system; department reports strong early use and partnerships with YMCA and GolfNow

She said the platform produced more than 1,700 household accounts at launch and 4,314 individual accounts as of the report; staff also reported 1,174 summer camp registrations in a 48‑hour window (about 35% of spots opened during that window) and 12,547 field reservation requests captured in the system. User feedback from more than 225 survey respondents rated the system about three out of five stars early in rollout, and staff have made incremental fixes based on that input; CivicPlus (the platform vendor) delivered mobile improvements that aligned the phone and desktop experiences.
Hale emphasized accessibility features, noting an "audioeye" tool and ADA‑compliant elements on the platform, and described calendar and household‑account features that show registrations and reservations for families. She said many friction points identified by users were resolved quickly and that registration statistics for spring and summer indicate the system is functioning as intended.
Separately, Director Bivins reported the county signed an agreement with the Chesapeake YMCA to operate a licensed childcare center (capacity up to 100 children) in county facilities and that YMCA staff will operate Great Mills Pool as a summer facility; commissioners approved and signed the underlying agreement. Bivins also said the GolfNow system is being implemented at Wicomico Shores to integrate tee times, pro‑shop sales and restaurant accounting.
Staff and board members discussed how calendar features interact with league scheduling and field reservations; staff said calendar views focus on program registrations and facility rentals, while certain league management tools operate externally. The department said it will continue to refine volunteer management and back‑end processes as the rollout continues.
No new formal policy votes were taken during the discussion; the items were presented for information and operational planning.
