Dr. Langford said the county commission approved an additional $5.4 million in capital funding and that the district’s 2024–25 general purpose budget has been passed; she told the board that increased pay for employees will appear on the Sept. 15 paycheck and will include retroactive pay back to each employee’s start date.
The district will route the $5.4 million through the county rather than the district’s usual purchasing channels, Dr. Langford said, allowing the funds to be used almost immediately. She described mockups for athletic upgrades including the Station Camp track, Gallatin track and a high-school tennis court layout (transcript spelling: "marro high"). Dr. Langford said Station Camp High School has unresolved drainage and irrigation problems that must be corrected before track work begins and that staff expect to provide a bidding timeline by the next board meeting or in September.
Dr. Langford recounted receiving multiple messages from employees expressing appreciation for the pay increases. Quoting one protected email from a 15-year classified employee, she said: "There are not words to tell you how much I appreciate this raise. I’m a 15‑year classified employee. I clear $1,270 a month. This is lifechanging for me." She presented those messages as evidence the increases will aid hiring and retention.
On school safety, Dr. Langford said a new state law on AED access requires closer placement of automated external defibrillators; staff had prepared orders to purchase 58 additional AEDs to meet the requirement.
A motion "to approve the resolution as worded" was moved by Miss Andrew and seconded by Mr. Daniels. A voice vote was taken and, after a roll-call-style prompt for "aye" or "none," the motion carried by voice vote. A board member identified in the transcript as "Mr M" thanked commissioners who supported the budget and noted Commissioner Ben Harris was absent and recovering from surgery.
The meeting adjourned following the vote. No additional formal actions or vote tallies by individual name were recorded in the transcript.
