Washtenaw County board approves consent agenda, appoints member and reclassifies two positions

The Washtenaw County Board of Commissioners voted to approve the consent agenda and several personnel actions during its most recent meeting.

The board approved the consent agenda by roll call. A motion to appoint Melissa to the West Community Corrections Advisory Board for a term expiring Dec. 31, 2020, carried on a roll-call vote. Later, the board approved a motion to reclassify the Probate Court administrative position to an M3 classification effective Jan. 1, 2025, and a separate motion to reclassify the Family Division administrator position to M3 effective Jan. 1, 2025. Board members confirmed funding questions were addressed during discussion.

The meeting record shows roll-call support for the motions and the chair announced the motions passed. The board also discussed ongoing budget coordination with department heads and possible leasing of space in the Lake Street building to Michigan State University at a rate similar to the county’s invasive species office.

The board authorized payment of $9,000 for a court security training course provided by the National Sheriff’s Association and reported the county recouped a little over $2,000 from other counties that sent staff to the session. Judge Elmore was reported to be forming a task force to review courthouse security and update protocols.

The meeting closed after routine announcements and calendar reminders.
