Facilities staff briefed the Ste. Genevieve Co. R-II Board on Oct. 20 about progress on the Prop SG-funded wrestling facility.
The presenter said foundation footings have been poured and substantial earthwork is underway at the site behind the pack. "You can see that the foundation footings are poured," the presenter said, and described a roughly 10-foot drop from the existing blacktop parking area that crews are addressing with a retaining wall and additional grading.
Renderings of interior and exterior finishes were shown to the board. Board members were told the building is intended to accommodate both boys and girls wrestling programs and that officials expect high use; an August 26 opening date was mentioned without specifying the year.
Why it matters: The new facility is intended to expand capacity for the district's wrestling programs and related activities and will affect parking and site circulation near the existing lot as construction continues.
The board received the update; no formal action was taken.
