ABC Unified board president updates council on school events, Whitney configuration and student recognition

Nyola told the council that Principal Msas (of Fetty Middle School as recorded in the transcript) was named Association of California School Administrators Region 14 middle school principal of the year and will be considered for a statewide honor. He also reported a board decision to keep Whitney Middle aligned with Whitney High and to expand Whitney to include sixth graders for the 2027–28 school year; staff will take next steps to work on logistics.
Earlier in the meeting the council recognized Student Government Day participants; certificates were presented from the City of Hawaiian Gardens and from the office of Sharon Kirk Silva. Staff and council named participating students and thanked ASB counselor Miss Masias and Principal Denise Mas.
