Board hears curriculum updates including new AP U.S. History and federal monitoring schedule

Mrs. Teed told the board Conneaut SD will present a K–12 guidance plan and a new AP U.S. History course for approval next week; she also said federal programs monitoring is scheduled for early May and PSSA testing begins April 20.
At the March 4 work session, Mrs. Teed previewed curriculum items that will appear on the board's voting agenda, including a required K'12 guidance plan for career and technical education programs and a proposed new AP U.S. History course at the high school.
She said the AP course fills a gap in the district's social-studies sequencing and that course descriptions and professional development supports will be included with the agenda materials. Mrs. Teed also notified trustees that federal programs monitoring (for Title I, II and IV grants) will occur in the first two weeks of May; staff are preparing documentation for review.
The board thanked district staff for coordinating professional development, noted plans for family nights on March 5 and March 12 at two schools, and received PSSA testing dates beginning April 20. No formal actions were taken on curriculum items during the work session; items are slated for vote next week.
