Winter Rogers, speaking during public comment, said she is a staff member with the district's Aspires program and described herself as a whistleblower who reported a sewage leak on March 5, 2025, at the Miller campus that she says was not properly handled by Principal Dr. Kayla Griffin.
"There was a sewage leak on our property March 5th of 2025. Dr. Kayla Griffin... failed to handle it properly and it was a hazardous situation, put all of us at the Miller campus at a risk of illness," Rogers told the board. She said students and staff were ill for months and that repeated reports to district officials and state agencies produced no corrective action. Rogers also said she recently learned of staff bullying directed at a student with disabilities and asked the board to investigate.
Other employees raised workplace-safety complaints. Amber Green, a custodian at Eisenhower, said she filed a work-violence report 61 business days earlier and had not received satisfactory follow-up; she asked for temporary reassignment while the investigation proceeds. The board asked staff to follow up with each speaker and the superintendent's office committed to outreach.
Trustees and staff acknowledged the seriousness of the claims and directed speakers to provide details to the superintendent for follow-up. The board did not make any formal findings at the meeting; the public comments were entered into the record for staff investigation and potential administrative action.
