The Rialto Unified School District Board of Education voted unanimously to appoint Dr. Alejandro Álvrez as the district’s next superintendent, approving an employment contract that takes effect Dec. 1, 2025.
The contract, presented and discussed in open session after a closed-session report, sets a base salary of $356,000, an annual doctoral stipend of $5,000, a monthly vehicle stipend and mileage reimbursement, and benefits comparable to other district administrators. The term runs through Jan. 30, 2029, with the possibility of annual raises tied to performance evaluations, and stipulates that the superintendent is entitled to the district’s administrative holidays and standard health and dental benefits. The board said expense reimbursements and membership dues to professional associations will be covered in accordance with district policy.
The vote followed routine consent business and a closed session in which the board announced settlement action in pending litigation and other personnel items. President Luis called the roll on the contract vote; Fiduciaria Williams, Fiduciaria Domínguez, Acuario Montes, Vicepresidente Martínez and the board president recorded “yes.” After the vote the outgoing interim superintendent, Dr. Judy White, presented a ceremonial baton and congratulated Dr. Álvarez.
The appointment concluded a search and selection process that drew public comment earlier in the meeting. Several speakers at the public-comment period praised local leaders and expressed support for stability; others asked the board for additional transparency about the search and any outside relationships linked to the finalist. Those concerns were heard on the record before the board took final action.
Under board procedure, the contract terms and the vote were summarized on the record as required by Education Code section referenced during the meeting. The board also announced its next regular meeting for Dec. 10, 2025.
The board did not detail any additional contingencies attached to the contract in open session beyond the salary, stipend, benefits and effective dates; the agenda materials said the contract negotiation remained subject to finalization of written terms and routine administrative processing.
