Rialto Unified presents district 'key' to parent group Unidas de Corazón

The Rialto Unified School District recognized Unidas de Corazón, María Antonia, with the district’s Key at its Dec. 10 board meeting, thanking the parent group for outreach and family support work across the district.
Vice President Edgar Montes introduced the recognition and read a Spanish presentation that described the organization’s founding (April 2018), its work to help families navigate schools and government services, and services provided such as community workshops, citizenship assistance and parent leadership development. Board members and the superintendent praised the group’s role in strengthening family engagement.
Els de la Rosa, identified in the remarks as the group’s founder, accepted the key and described the group’s mission and activities: organizing parent meetings, coordinating workshops linked to the consulate and university partnerships, and providing direct support to hundreds of families. Meeting remarks said the group grew to more than 300 families and currently has roughly 30–35 active members.
The board paused for photos and congratulated the recipients before moving on to public comments.
"Esta noche honramos con orgullo a Unidas de Corazón, María Antonia," the presentation concluded, a sentiment echoed by trustees and the superintendent.
The recognition ceremony was conducted in Spanish; the board noted it was the first time the key ceremony was read entirely in Spanish at a board meeting.
