Monongalia County approves poll-worker roster for May primary and sets early-voting plan

Monongalia County Clerk Carrie Blay told the commission on March 4 that the office had received poll-worker nominations from local party executive committees for the May 12 primary and sought commission approval to notify and fill vacancies.
Blay said ballot proofs have returned and that the office will move quickly to notify workers and fill any open precinct assignments. “With your approval today, then our office will begin the process of notifying all of these workers and filling any vacancies,” the clerk said.
Blay also said the county will operate two early-voting sites for this primary — the main election center at the mall and the Mason Dixon site — and that staffing and new processing requirements made it impractical to run a third site this cycle. She said public testing of voting equipment will occur the Wednesday before early voting begins; early voting is scheduled to start April 29, with testing likely on April 22.
Commission action: The commission moved and seconded to approve the poll-worker roster as presented and voted in favor by voice vote.
