Pinellas Park honors longtime employees, highlights upcoming sports-park opening and folk-fair invite

Pinellas Park — At its Feb. 26 meeting, the Pinellas Park City Council recognized multiple employees for long service and heard community announcements and public comments.
Fire Chief Andrew Hughes introduced Brian, who marked 20 years with the department and was recognized for awards and leadership roles on specialty teams and as a mentor for cadets. "20 years, quite the accomplishment," Hughes said, and listed Brian’s promotions and service roles. The council presented a plaque and thanks.
Kelly A. Collins was honored for 20 years as the executive administrative assistant to the city manager; speakers praised her institutional knowledge and role managing agendas and records. Scott A. Vander was recognized for 35 years of service in public works and parks, with testimony about his decades of youth coaching and community volunteerism.
During public comment, a resident asked for assistance resolving a duplicate traffic citation that a resident said resulted from a Jan. 19 accident; police officers present said they would speak with the resident after the meeting. Dr. Rajiv Sahai, vice president of the St. Pete International Folk Fair Society and managing partner of Sah Scientific Services, invited the mayor and council to the organization’s 50th-anniversary festival at England Brothers Park March 5–7 and offered to leave program materials with staff.
Council members and staff also announced the Sprouse Horizon Sports Park weekend events and a consumer-protection drive-thru on Feb. 28, plus a tribute concert at the Performing Arts Center. The meeting adjourned after brief personal remarks and birthday recognitions.
