Pinellas Park council approves easement vacation to allow backyard pool

Pinellas Park — The Pinellas Park City Council on Feb. 26 adopted resolution 2026-07, vacating the west 5 feet of a 10-foot platted drainage and utility easement on the property at 11127 Maxton Way North to allow a proposed rear-yard pool and deck.
Planning staff presenter Michael Carleglio summarized the application (VAC-0925-000012), noting the subject parcel is zoned R-1 (single-family residential) with a residential-urban land use designation, and that the property lies in flood zone X (low to moderate risk shaded). Carleglio said there are no existing drainage or utility assets in the portion proposed for vacation and that all utility providers in Pinellas County provided letters of no objection.
The applicant, Eduardo Ehabia (who said he goes by Ed Havia), told the council the purpose is family use: "She wants the pool," he said, referring to his granddaughter and grandchildren. He described planning the pool so grandchildren can visit during hot weather. The council closed the public hearing and adopted the resolution on first and final reading; the motion carried unanimously.
Next steps: staff will coordinate recording the easement vacation with county property records and advise the applicant of any required permits or inspections before construction.
