The Kingsburg City Council recognized and ceremonially welcomed three new members of the Kings Police Department during the meeting: Officer Anthony Bustilos, Officer Edgar Maldonado and Police Service Technician Marshia Alves.
Staff introduced Officer Anthony Bustilos, noting he was born and raised in Selma, served in the U.S. Army from 2008 to 2013 (including deployment to Afghanistan), worked at Fresno Veterans Hospital as a suicide-prevention outreach specialist, and joined the city in March 2025 as a patrol officer. Family members -- including his mother Graciella Kavasos and daughters Sienna and Annayia -- joined him for the badge pinning.
Officer Edgar Maldonado was introduced as a Kingsburg native who attended Kingsburg High School and completed academy training at Fresno City College; he lateraled from Atwater Police Department to return to Kingsburg. His daughter Alisa participated in the pinning. Police Service Technician Marshia Alves was presented for her decades in local service, including prior roles at city hall and as a dental assistant; family members joined her onstage.
The chief and council offered congratulations and photos followed the ceremony. The recognitions were ceremonial; no formal council action was required.
