Mayor Stephen Delina and Library Director Leah Wagner presented a proclamation at the Oct. 7 agenda session recognizing Oct. 20–26, 2024 as Friends of the Monroe Township Public Library Week.
The proclamation praised the Friends group for fundraising and volunteer activities that support library programs and services, including museum-pass access to regional institutions, a book bike for outreach, a vending-style office/school-supplies dispenser and funding of annual scholarships for graduating Monroe Township High School seniors. In remarks, the mayor and library representatives described the Friends as essential to expanding the library's offerings and outreach.
Council members and the mayor thanked the Friends organization and invited residents to visit library programs and upcoming events. Council also paused the agenda briefly for photos related to the proclamation.
