Residents press council for Bentley Road sewer, paving and speed enforcement

Residents used the Oct. 7 public-comment periods at Monroe Township's agenda session to press council members for immediate action on Bentley Road, which speakers said has long-standing septic flooding, no sewer service, missing sidewalks and recurring speeding.
Amy Benner of 33 Bentley Road told the council her street still experiences septic-tank flooding and that prior assertions that sewer would be routed to her street by a developer have not yet materialized. Town staff responded that the planned sewer extension is part of the design for a nearby large development and that the township will connect Bentley Road to the developer-built main when that phase of construction occurs.
Another resident delivering extended remarks said the road has been neglected for years, cited repeated calls to town offices with little response, and demanded paving rather than repeated temporary fixes. Officials acknowledged the complaints, said Bentley Road is on the township's priority list for paving next year, and offered to increase police enforcement for speeding and to follow up directly with residents to clarify timing.
The council encouraged residents to continue to report conditions, and staff said they will coordinate follow-up between police, public works and planning to provide specific next-step information to the complainants.
