Mr. Tindle told council that the RPC and staff have previously delegated platting responsibilities (a practice expanded during COVID) and that adopting the resolution allows the RPC to continue staff‑level signoffs within the new state limits. Council members asked whether plats would still have public‑hearing opportunities; staff replied that preliminary plats and other higher‑impact reviews still go to the planning commission and that final plats historically have limited new public input because infrastructure and approvals are already completed.
Why it matters: adoption would preserve a faster staff review path for many final plats and small subdivisions while requiring larger or more consequential plats to be heard by the RPC. Staff noted some projects may see longer waits for RPC agenda slots if they exceed the staff caps. The resolution is on the agenda for council action.
