The York County Board of Equalization approved tax-roll corrections for multiple parcels the board was told had been exempt but sold to taxable owners prior to levy-setting.
The county assessor presented six corrections (identified in the meeting as numbers 45 through 50), reporting that lots in York Industrial Park and other locations should be moved from exempt status to taxable status and added to the 2022 tax roll with the assessor's recommended land values.
Examples listed by the assessor included a York Industrial Park lot to be added at $95,559 and another industrial lot added at $90,559; a parcel in Waco bought by Matthew Clark and Stephen Gerkin with an initial land value of $4,219; and a variety of city lots purchased from villages and developers with values noted by the assessor. The assessor and board discussed timing and the effect of improvements that may not be finished by Jan. 1, and the assessor confirmed that parcels will be maintained in the file for the incoming assessor to check.
Board members moved to approve the corrections and recorded affirmative roll-call votes on the items presented. The assessor and board noted that properties that remain unrepaired or unchanged by Jan. 1 will be assessed on that date and that owners who complete repairs before Jan. 1 should inform the assessor's office so values can be adjusted for the next tax year.
After the tax-roll corrections the board took final questions, the assessor reiterated the Jan. 1 assessment rule, and the board adjourned.
