York County Board of Equalization adopts levies for political subdivisions

The York County Board of Equalization voted to adopt a resolution setting levies for political subdivisions after a brief discussion of line-item figures and missing budget submissions.

Board staff presented the levy schedule and explained small rounding discrepancies when summing figures for several districts. "Bradshaw Village, it's point 73, four, four, five, six," the presenter said, and added that when those figures are summed they "comes to seventy-three, forty-four, fifty. So, we'll do the fifty-five." The presenter also noted a 50% cap on an assessed-agricultural value that affected a bond figure and said Kelly had checked with the state on how to apply that rule. "Superintendent Klein did a great job that night at the postcard meeting to explain," the presenter added.

The presenter told the board the Historical Society had not submitted a final budget. "The Historical Society did not bring in their budget to me. So, we can use their preliminary that they sent in," staff said.

A board member moved to adopt the resolution, with Bill identified as the mover and Jack as the seconder. The clerk called the roll for the measure; members recorded answering "yes" included Palmsburg, Sykes, Groots, Oakland and Open mark. The resolution was approved and the chair noted the Board of Equalization can correct errors later in the season—staff said corrections typically occur in late November or early December.

The board did not detail finalized levy rates for every district in the meeting transcript, and some numerical figures discussed on the record were presented as preliminary or were clarified as subject to state rules. Staff said they will process and correct any issues as required and that final numbers will be reflected in the adopted resolution documents.
