York County appoints Megan Williams as interim county treasurer through year end

The York County Board of Commissioners on Oct. 18 voted to appoint Megan Williams, the county's deputy treasurer, to fill the remainder of the outgoing treasurer's term.
Commissioners said they interviewed Williams and reviewed her experience in the treasurer's office (she told the board she has worked in the office for eight years, five as deputy). Multiple county treasurers from the district reportedly expressed support. Williams confirmed to the board her name and address for the record and the board described a contract that will run through the end of the calendar year; the swearing-in will be scheduled once the contract is signed.
A motion to appoint Williams to finish the term was moved and passed by roll call. The appointment will end when the newly elected treasurer is sworn in in January 2023.
Next steps: Williams will sign a contract for the interim appointment; the clerk will schedule a swearing-in and circulate paperwork to county staff.
