State offers courtroom AV systems; county asked to fund limited prework

Representatives from the Administrative Office of the Courts and Probation told the Board the state has contracted for standardized, professional audio‑visual systems to be installed across county courthouses to support remote hearings, electronic exhibits and clearer audio recording.
Jennifer Rasmussen said the state will cover the equipment and installation costs under the state contract, but asked the county to provide any preparatory infrastructure work such as electrical recesses, conduit upgrades and small bench adjustments. Rasmussen said, "once the system is installed, that equipment becomes the property of the county," and the county will then manage service and any warranty relationships going forward.
Court staff and commissioners discussed wiring penetrations under courtroom floors, recessed electrical boxes behind juror and witness areas, and a proposed memorandum of understanding that will formalize transfer of ownership and outline service responsibilities. The state representative estimated installations would generally be scheduled roughly 90 days after county approval and that each courtroom installation typically requires several days on site.
