At a York County commissioners meeting, a commissioner said the state has awarded a $355,000 grant that would run through the county to fund improvements to a Four Corners building, including a new HVAC system.

The commissioner told colleagues that “they have awarded that grant now, which is seems to be on kind of a fast track, $355,000 grant that would run through us so they could do the improvements to the building.” The public notice for the grant has already been delivered, the commissioner said.

The notice included language the commissioner characterized as unusual for county notices, specifically referencing provision of translators. “There was wordage in there like we would provide translators and stuff like that that I’ve never seen before and I don’t know that we have those on hand to provide,” the commissioner said, adding the county will contact Tom and proceed with a standard public notice process if appropriate.

The commissioner said they and another commissioner, Kelly, will review the public hearing notice at the next meeting. No formal action to accept or administer the grant was recorded during the meeting; the notice and any follow-up public hearing review were presented as items for future procedural steps.
