York County commissioners authorized the chairman to sign a juvenile-services grant application that staff said would fund wages, travel and operating expenses for juvenile-diversion work and could preserve a part-time staff person with the aim of making the position full time.
Tristan, a juvenile-services staff member, told the board the grant's main uses would be wages, travel for training and operating expenses tied to attendance monitoring and support programs for students at risk of court involvement. Tristan said the grant contains no local match obligation and that a partial award could be accepted with adjustments to hours, incentives and training.
The board moved, seconded and approved a motion authorizing the chairman to sign the application; the record shows the action will be submitted before the grant deadline in late March.
