The Chino Valley Town Council unanimously approved a conditional use permit (Resolution 2026‑1302) to allow a freestanding electronic message center (EMC) at the Ace Hardware store at 1395 S. State Route 89.
Senior planner Jessica Barrian summarized the application on behalf of Signs Plus and Sheets Investment, saying the sign meets Chino Valley Unified Development Ordinance criteria: proposed height 13 feet (below the 14‑foot maximum), sign panel 32 square feet, minimum clearance about eight feet, dark‑sky technology, six‑second display intervals, no flashing content, and an ambient light sensor. Staff also reported the Planning & Zoning Commission forwarded approval by a 7–0 vote on Feb. 3, 2026.
Barrian said the existing sign will be demolished as part of the project and that staff recommended approval with the conditions included in the packet. No members of the public spoke on the sign during the public hearing. Council moved to approve the resolution and recorded the motion as carried unanimously.
