The Haslet Home Rule Charter Commission appointed three working subcommittees and set follow-up meetings after a broad bylaws discussion at the March 4 session.
Chair appointed the subcommittees to focus initial drafting and research on what commissioners described as the commission’s heaviest tasks: the form of government, elections and financial procedures. Appointments were: form of government — Chuck Tacket, Joel Bullard and Kyle Clark; elections — Joy Keane, Marilyn (last name recorded in the minutes) and Benjamin Drury; finance — Mike Rose, Stuart and Matt Hayes. The chair asked that subcommittees meet at least once before the next full commission meeting.
The commission set its next regular meeting for April 1, 2026, at 7 p.m. and added a second April date of April 22, 2026, at 7 p.m. Commissioners were told subcommittees should avoid quorum violations when meeting and coordinate scheduling through staff to ensure compliance with open-meetings rules.
Commissioners also asked city staff to clarify whether the municipality will provide email accounts or devices for members; staff said the city may provide those resources subject to budget and security review and agreed to report back.
The commission directed subcommittees to prepare readouts for the next meeting and to begin identifying documents, city department staff and outside examples they will use for drafting specific charter language.
