Friends of the Library report successful book sale, QuickBooks migration and Moody Foundation grant application

Aaron Millis, speaking for the Friends of the Library, told the Library Board the Friends remain in strong financial condition after a recent successful book sale and have migrated their accounts to QuickBooks Online to improve bookkeeping and integrations.
Millis said the Friends fulfilled funding requests for library summer programs and recently submitted an application to the Moody Foundation in hopes of joint funding for a Books for Babies program. "The Moody Foundation will be meeting next month to start making their decisions; we hope to hear from them sometime midsummer," Millis said.
He also reported plans to use Amplified Austin as a fundraising platform for Giving Tuesday this fall, announced the next Friends book sale on May 24 at the library, and said the group participated in a homeschool fair where outreach to teens produced some volunteer interest. The Friends' annual meeting is scheduled for April 30 and will include presentation of teen volunteer awards.
Millis asked board members if there were questions or communications they wanted relayed to the Friends; none were raised. He also noted the student liaison, Lucas, was not present and had not submitted a report.
