Village staff told the council on Feb. 25 that the purchase and installation of a children's playground at King's Pond is part of the village's obligation under a Green Acres diversion settlement and that capital funds are available from prior accounts and the current capital budget.
Heather explained the vendor selection will use a Sourcewell contract and staff expects to award the work on March 11. She also said Topology (Newark) will update the village's Recreation and Open Space Inventory (ROSS) to resolve the diversion; the transcript shows a not-to-exceed figure for the ROSS update but it was presented as $10,000 by staff during the meeting.
Council members emphasized the need to add the new amenity to the parks inventory once installed and asked staff to coordinate an installation schedule with the vendor once the March 11 award is completed. Staff underscored that completing the playground and gazebo work is necessary to clear the Green Acres diversion and restore access to certain state grants.
Next steps: award the Kings Pond playground contract at the March 11 meeting, finalize the ROSS update work with Topology, and post installation dates and park-inventory updates.
