Board approves MOAs, accepts large gifts and rejects over-budget pool bids

At its meeting the North Syracuse Central School District Board of Education approved several routine and business items, accepted significant gifts, and directed rebidding of an over-budget pool project.
Board President Michael Morizio read proclamations and led the board through action items. The board approved an amendment to a lease agreement with St. Margaret’s Church, approved memoranda of agreement with Teamsters Local 317 and the North Syracuse Education Association, and nominated Mr. Crabtree for another term on a BOCES board for the July 1, 2025–June 30, 2028 term. All motions reported in the meeting were approved unanimously.
The district reported two gifts: a $546,190 donation from Justin Ferguson to the North Syracuse Early Education Program and an anonymous $3,042 gift designated for Roxboro Road Elementary; the board accepted the gifts with gratitude. The board also moved to reject CNS pool construction bids that exceeded the project budget; administration said architects and construction managers will revise specifications and meet potential bidders with the goal of rebidding within about a month.
The board acknowledged retirements, accepted personnel recommendations as submitted, and adjourned without an executive session. The meeting’s business items were routine and saw unanimous votes unless otherwise noted.
