Lisa told the Sunset Beach Environmental Resource Committee April 16 that the town has received five requests for qualifications for the Palm Cove–Jinx Creek dredging project and is reviewing them. "We received five RFQS or are in the process of reviewing those," she said, adding that the next step is to schedule interviews with some or all firms and for the Town Council to enter negotiations with the firms selected for the project.
Committee members flagged coastal sand movement and dune impacts earlier in the meeting, noting wave-height advisories and sand pushed against dune bases, which framed the dredging discussion as relevant to shoreline management and stormwater conveyance.
Next steps: staff will schedule interviews and prepare recommended firms for Town Council negotiation and potential contracting.
Proper names mentioned include Palm Cove and Jinx Creek.
