Residents oppose Chick-fil-A site; commissioners continue hearing and schedule community meeting

Audriana White introduced herself as an Inglewood resident and told commissioners she opposed the Chick-fil-A development at 3003 W. Manchester Blvd and questioned why the item had been postponed to March 17, calling the date “an odd week of the month” when attendance might be lower. "I'm here actually to oppose the Chick-fil-A development on 3003 West Manchester Boulevard," she said.
Other residents raised similar concerns. An Simmons said moving the date to March 17 (St. Patrick's Day) could reduce turnout; Ruben Jacobs said he had received prior postcards but not the follow-up notices and asked staff to clarify the timing and purpose of the upcoming meetings.
Staff and the director responded that the Planning Commission continued the item to a date certain to allow a community informational meeting and to let the developer consider feedback before formal consideration. Mr. Kum (staff) explained the meeting was continued to allow time for an informational session; Director McCumbo apologized for any missing email communications and encouraged attendees to sign up for the city mailing list and the general-plan newsletter (nextlevelinglewood.com). McCumbo said Councilwoman Gloria Gray requested more community engagement and that the informational meeting would take place tomorrow at 2901 Manchester (6:00 p.m.).
The commission then moved to continue Special Use Permit SUP25-000024 to the special Planning Commission meeting on March 17, 2026; the motion was seconded and passed unanimously. Staff said the March 17 Planning Commission meeting will follow the regular format and include an opportunity for public comment on the discretionary action.
The director and commissioners urged residents to sign up for district newsletters and city mailing lists to receive notices of future hearings. The informational meeting and the March 17 hearing were described as the next opportunities for community members to present specific concerns about traffic, circulation and project details.
