Council approves purchase of replacement turnout gear for fire department

Chief Fraser explained turnout gear consists of multiple protective layers, calling it a “three layer garment” with an outer shell, a moisture barrier and a thermal liner, and said the replacement schedule and budgeted funds support the purchase.
Council members moved and approved the purchase by roll call. Staff said the expense had been anticipated in the capital budget; the specific line item and total budget allocation were described as already included in this year’s capital plan.
The motion carried with the attending members voting yes on the roll call.
