Board committee advances multiple summer facilities projects; committee moves to contract Holden Brothers for tuck‑pointing
Summary
Facilities staff reviewed summer project schedules, lighting bids with estimated 6–8 year payback, moving plans to UW‑Green Bay for Stangle programs, and recommended a tuck‑pointing contract (transcript shows both “Holden” and “Holton” spellings) totaling about $273,000; the committee moved to accept the recommended contractor and moved into closed session to discuss property negotiations.

Michael Schwarz, the district facilities lead, briefed the committee on summer work projects, moving timelines and contractor bids, reporting that bids for interior lighting at Stangle, Franklin and Monroe have arrived and that staff plan to bring lighting recommendations to the full board so ordering can proceed.
"Prioritizing doing lighting work first makes a lot of sense because it saves you money and it pays for itself," Michael said, citing estimated payback periods of six to eight years on lighting investments.
On moving plans, Michael said the district has secured more than 10,000 boxes and is coordinating with UW‑Green Bay and the county on a sub‑lease and memorandum of understanding so district programs currently in Stangle can move to a UWGB site. Staff said draft agreements were expected and that the target remains to vacate Stangle before the end of the school year if legal steps proceed.
For tuck‑pointing work, staff reported a recommended bid from Holden Brothers (the transcript uses both "Holden Brothers" and an alternate spelling "Holton Brothers Incorporated"). Staff said the total cost across affected buildings is about $273,000 and recommended bringing the contractor to the board for approval. A committee member moved to accept the recommended contractor and a second was recorded; committee members were asked to signify approval by voice. The transcript records one vocal opposition during the vote exchange but does not provide a formal roll‑call tally in the committee record.
Staff also reviewed timelines for concession and athletic facility work and said some projects might not be complete for the upcoming baseball season but that contractors expect to complete targeted work within a typical two‑to‑three‑week on‑site window when scheduled.
The committee later moved to convene into closed session to deliberate sale of district property and related bargaining, citing Wisconsin Statutes section 19.85(1)(e); a roll call was taken and the meeting moved into closed session.
