Commissioners and legal staff discussed the county's notification practice for neighbors within 500 feet of an establishment that seeks a license change. Commissioner Friend expressed concern that neighbors around parts of the golf course might be within 500 feet of playing areas even if the clubhouse itself is distant. County Attorney staff and the county clerk advised that notification is required by a board resolution and offered to provide a mailing list and a template notice; the clerk asked the applicant to send mailed notices as the practical means of notifying property owners.
Because the state’s NLCC local‑review deadline requires local action by March 19, the board left the public hearing open and asked the applicant to complete neighborhood notification and return at the board’s next meeting (March 10). The clerk offered to prioritize the item on the next agenda if the applicant appears in person, and the board preserved the record so neighbors who appear next week can speak before a final decision.
